This has
been the trip of a lifetime for me; I will never forget the
magical Kingdom of Bhutan, and the people I met during the
four month assignment.
In
particular, the junior golfers who attended the Bhutan Youth
Golf Association program were so kind to me, respectful, and
focused on learning. The day I left, I heard from one of the
caddies that Rinchen, a young man who became my assistant,
had a round of 3 under on the tough Royal Thimpu course. I
expect to hear many such success stories from that special
group of kids.
Bhutan is
unique, a place that maintains the things that are noble and
important in life. Even though change is coming, in that the
King has offered to the citizens a democratic election
system, I am confident that those values will not be
compromised.
In yet
another example of the auspicious coincidences that happen
in this Buddhist Himalayan Kingdom, my daughter Katharine,
who was visiting for 2 weeks, was offered an internship for
3 months at the Traditional Arts School, and will be staying
on!
To my
friends and students in Halifax, I will be back to teaching
on May 1; you can sign up by hitting the appropriate tab at
